Mathur New ED of RDCIS, SAIL (Ranchi)

Ranchi: A.S.Mathur has taken over the charge of RDCIS from N.K.Jha today. Jha has taken over  as Executive Director (Works) of Bokaro Steel Plant. Mathur, a graduate in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kanpur  is now heading SAIL's Research & Development Centre for Iron & Steel (RDCIS)  w.e.f. from today i.e. 30th September, 2009. Mathur was heading Centre for Engineering & Technology(CET) since October, 2006.

He  had joined SAIL in 1973 and has had an illustrious career at SAIL's Bokaro Steel Plant before taking charge of CET.

As per the company, Mathur has extensive experience in hot strip mill operation and has significantly contributed towards the modernization and stabilization of Bokaro's hot strip mill. This mill largest of its kind in India and has been supplying quality hot rolled coils, plates and sheets for the past thirty years. In addition he also had been in-charge of Research & Control Laboratory, Slabbing Mill, Roll Grinding Shop and been the overall in-charge of the entire Rolling Mills complex at Bokaro including the Cold Rolling Mill.

In Hot Strip Mill , he raised the production of coils from less than 600 coils per day  to more than 800 coils per day, which means from 12000 tones per day to 16000 tones per day.  He specifically contributed in reducing the stock of ingots and slabs to zero.  In slabbing mill, he raised the level of hot scarfing from 40% to 100%.

In CET, Mathur led a team of experienced technologists and engineers in giving shape to SAIL's expansion and modernization plan.  During his tenure, the worth of projects handled by CET  was raised from Rs.5000 crores to Rs.17000 crores.

Mathur is a great motivator and team man.  He has enthused his workforce  to a level so that they contribute to the best of their abilities.

A connoisseur of Indian culture and music Shri Mathur is a well-traveled man. He has visited Russia, Italy, Ukraine, Austria, Germany, Sweden, South Korea and China in his official capacity.
